Physical Science A
Bellwork:
1. How does the output force compare to the input force if the mechanical advantage of a machine is less than one, equal to one, and more than one?
2. IF you put in 400 joules into a machine and get 300 joule out, what is the efficiency of the machine?
3. How much work is done by a girl who pushes a cart of bricks if she applies a force of 500 N over a distance of 10 meters in a time of 20 seconds?
Discuss simple machines and energy. Go to the blog, open up the take the notes on the rest of the simple machines and energy. We will discuss towards the end of the hour.
Demo: bowling ball
HW: Review Questions. Please answer the questions we will go over the answers tomorrow.
Test will be on thurs. We will take the practice test tomorrow and go over any questions that you may still have and wrap-up everything.
Physical Science B
Bellwork:
1. Why are so many of the pictures used to represent the amount of energy in an ecosystem shaped much like a pyramid or triangle?
2. If the amount of energy produced by a particular producer is 3000 calories, how much energy reaches the tertiary consumer?
Continue working on the Chemical Cycles. Each group should have their research done. You should be explaining your part to the other members of your group. Secondly, you should be working on the visual representation(pictures).
Hand in the three pictures.
When finished, pick up the chemical cycles worksheet to work on tonight. We will wrap-up everything tomorrow, go over the cycles, review all the material, and I will have a practice test for you(we will most likely, because of time, just work on it in groups and spend the time studying).
