Welcome Back!
Collect Syllabus Signed Back Sheets
Check and discuss homework from friday.
Short Reading Quiz
Begin Electrostatics.
Discuss Atomic Structure.
Objectives:
1. Understand the general structure of an atom.
2. Be able to identify the number of proton, electrons, and neutrons for a given atom using the atomic number and mass number.
Atomic number worksheet.

Physics B
Pick-up the pre-lab and work on the this individually.
While working on the pre-lab, I will check the your homework, the section 1 and 2 review questions. When finish we will go over the pre-lab.
Discuss briefly the basics of electrostatics.
Explain the electrostatics lab.
-you will work in groups on 3 for the lab.
-make sure that you do not proceed until you have gotten my signatures at the check point.
-as you work through the lab, you should be making observations and taking notes over the following concepts:
-how to determine if charge is present
-what are the types of interactions that result with the interaction of charges
-difference between a conductor and an insulator
-charging by contact and induction
-polarization of charges
As you move through the lab, if you hit a point where the concepts don't make sense, stop and ask!
HW: begin to work on the "Coulomb's Law Problems". These are not due tomorrow but will be due on thursday.
You will have a short test over electrostatics on Friday.
